Arepas Colombian Style
INGREDIENTS
2 cups
Precooked white cornmeal
2 tsp
Salt
2 1/2 cups
Warm Water
2 tbsp
Butter
PREPARATION
In a mixing bowl combine flour and salt. Mix well. Add water and knead until there is no dryness. Let rest 5 to 10 minutes covered.
Roll dough and divide into 8 equal parts. Flatten to form a disc 1/2" thick.
Add 1 tbsp butter to fry pan and melt on medium heat. Add 4 arepas at a time and fry 6 minutes on each side.
Repeat with remaining arepas.
Cooking Tips:
Do not over cook as the arapas will burn.
Serving Tips:
Cut in half and stuff with meat or vegetables.
